Crieve Hall Forever Home: Second Story Addition and Full Renovation

Neighborhood: Crieve Hall, Nashville, Tennessee

Project Summary:

What The Client Wanted: The clients wanted to transform this small, single-story house into a spacious family residence, so we undertook an extensive renovation.

What We Did: We gutted everything in this house but the primary suite. We removed the existing carport and built a garage in its place, which also included a brand new, full-footprint second story to double the family’s square footage. We created a vaulted bonus room upstairs, as well as a living room, two bedrooms, and two bathrooms. We also revamped the screened porch, updated the kitchen with a gas stove and pot filler, and installed a skylight for natural light. The lower floor now features an open-concept layout that flows into a converted mudroom from the former carport space. This extensive renovation also called for a complete facelift for the home’s exterior.

Project Highlights:

  • We preserved the existing porch with technical tie in points from the garage modifications
  • Added custom details for the pantry,  kitchen hood and art niche
  • We vaulted the bonus room design
  • The homeowner was actually the interior designer on this project – we loved collaborating on the details!
